Canada at the Cutting Edge of Innovation: Nature vs. Nurture and Impacts on Aging

Description

The question of whether nature or nurture has a greater influence over the people we become has long been debated. Now, a growing body of research is demonstrating that the social and physical environments in which we grow and live may not only shape our personalities, but also cause our bodies to age more quickly, starting from a young age.

With the discovery of new research methods, it is now possible for scientists to compare differences in the pace at which bodies age, including children and adolescents, who are free of any aging-related disease.

Join us for a fascinating presentation and fireside chat with CIFAR fellow and epidemiologist Dr. Daniel Belsky to learn more about the links between early childhood development and aging, including how this important work could inform policies and interventions designed to promote healthy development in people of all ages.
