Is the French Language Sexist?

Writing in French "Les Canadiens sont un peuple ambitieux et ouvert" disregards half the country's population, as it only addresses a single gender. Do Canadian women not also display ambition and openness? The language should reflect this.

Following a gender-based analysis approach, this discussion will examine the assumptions on which communications in French are generally based on in order to better deconstruct the myth of the neutrality of the masculine. Participants will also explore practical solutions to communicate more inclusively.
