Understanding the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent

Description

We are now more than half way through the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent (2015–2024). Proclaimed in 2014, the Decade recognizes that people of African descent represent a distinct group whose human rights must be promoted and protected.

This discussion will explore:

  • a brief history of what led up to the Decade and its three pillars of recognition, justice and development
  • what the three pillars could look like within the federal public service
  • what we have learned from previous attempts at achieving recognition, justice and development

Following the panel discussion, there will be a live Q&A period.
