John Moses, the son, grandson and great-grandson of residential school Survivors, shares his father's story and legacy.
John's father, Russ Moses, attended the Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School in Brantford, Ontario, from 1942 to 1947. With excerpts from Russ's memoirs, written in 1965 when he was 33 years old, John shares the story of a residential school Survivor who went on to serve in the Canadian military and also work as a public servant and a radio host.
It is important to hear the stories of Survivors and honour their experiences. By sharing these truths, we can continue to work towards reconciliation and healing.
