Tackling Suicide Prevention in the Workplace

Description

On any given day, almost a dozen Canadians die by suicide. Of these, eight suicides are by men and boys. There are over 4000 deaths each year. How many of these deaths are preventable? What can we do, as federal public servants, to help?

This event will feature an expert panel of speakers who will tackle the still all-too taboo topic of suicide and the critical role that we can all play in its prevention. Join us on World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10, 2021) for this important global conversation where you will learn about:

  • suicidal ideation, risks, and protective factors
  • the demographics most at-risk
  • the signs of someone who may be struggling with suicidal ideation
  • safely starting and sustaining the conversation about suicide
  • the role of a healthy workplace in suicide prevention
  • available resources and support networks

This event is presented in partnership between the Centre of Expertise on Mental Health in the Workplace and the Canada School of Public Service.
