Description
With each day that passes, it becomes more evident that we live in a data-driven world. Our personal interactions and transactions are moving online and generating vast amounts of data that can tell us a lot about what is happening around us. This is especially pertinent in times of disruption, such as what we are experiencing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Data can offer important insights into the impacts of the disruption today and help us reflect on what is likely to follow.
With continuous improvements to speed and bandwidth and perpetual invention of new tools for creating, sharing and consuming data, this trend of more data is slated to continue. While this creates opportunities for businesses and governments to use data to develop better products and services, it also raises questions around trust and how to ensure that data collection and use serves the interests of Canadians.
Join us for the third event in the CSPS Virtual Café Series featuring Anil Arora, Chief Statistician of Canada, and Nik Nanos, Chief Data Scientist and Founder of Nanos Research. Together, they will explore a number of topics such as what data tells us about how the world is evolving during the pandemic and what good quality data looks like and how difficult it is to get.
