Shawna joined the federal public service in 1996 with Human Resources Development Canada in Brandon, Manitoba. She worked with the business expertise team in Employment Insurance processing, and delivered training full-time with the College@ESDC in Regina, Saskatchewan.
She has represented Employment and Social Development Canada internationally, as an ambassador for Canada, delivering service excellence training to employees within the Government of Belize. Her service expertise also led her to an interchange agreement providing training to Newfoundland and Labrador provincial employees.
She brings a wealth of experience, in learning and development, to the School when she joined the national faculty team in 2016. Shawna's Métis heritage, combined with her drive to increase her knowledge of Indigenous peoples, led her to also join the School's Indigenous learning team in 2019.
One main reason Shawna joined CSPS was for the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people. Discovering more about ourselves and increasing our knowledge collectively, within our learning journeys, is a significant motivation for her. Shawna's passion for learning, and her dynamic approach allow her to bring enthusiasm, energy and laughter to the classroom. It is truly a delight for her to see moments of growth amongst all participants while having fun at work.
