LinkedIn profile for Placide Turenne

Placide Turenne joined the Canada Public Service School's faculty in September 2025.

His career in the public service spans nearly 27 years. Before joining the School, Placide served as director of national policy and programs and regional coordination in the Official Languages Branch at Canadian Heritage. In this role, he oversaw funding programs for community organizations and regional coordination.

For more than 14 years, he managed two major national tax credit programs for audiovisual production that were administered jointly by the Canada Revenue Agency and Canadian Heritage. He also managed the organization support component of the Canada Book Fund. From January 2019 to October 2021, he managed the national tax credit policy for the Canadian audiovisual sector.

In 2020, as the pandemic raged, affecting the resumption of audiovisual production filming in the country, Placide led the establishment the Short-Term Compensation Fund for Canadian Audiovisual Productions.

Placide is also deeply committed to accessibility, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion. He was the champion of Canadian Heritage's Black Employee Network.

By joining the School, Placide hopes to contribute to the preparation of the next generation of leaders—particularly Black leaders—who will shape the public service of tomorrow.
