Description
The recent identification of unmarked graves of Indigenous children at residential school locations across the country has awakened the national consciousness to the terrible legacy of this government-mandated system in Canada. As public servants seeking to engage in the process of truth and reconciliation, we have an opportunity to gain insights and understanding from the Honourable Murray Sinclair, former senator and chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).
The Honourable Mr. Sinclair will share his perspective on how the federal public service can drive reconciliation and implement the TRC's calls to action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples into systems that have historically oppressed Indigenous Peoples.
This event is a partnership between the BC Federal Council's Indigenous Interests and Issues Committee, the Pacific Aboriginal Network, Natural Resources Canada's Indigenous Partnerships Office – West, and the Canada School of Public Service.
