A Look at Contemporary America
Keynote Speaker: Douglas Elmendorf, Dean of Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Don K. Price Professor of Public Policy
Current US political discourse seems to be characterized by social divisions, hyper-partisanship, and changing perspectives on pluralism. Is this the "new normal"? Or is this an ephemeral blip?
The Canada School of Public Service was delighted to welcome Dr. Douglas Elmendorf, Dean and Don K. Price Professor of Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, who addressed this important topic at the 2018 Manion Lecture on October 17 in Gatineau.
Dr. Elmendorf has had a distinguished career as an academic and senior official in the US government. He has served as a director of the Congressional Budget Office from January 2009 through March 2015 and as a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. He has significant expertise in developing government policy and has worked on a range of issues from health care to income security. He earned his PhD and MA in economics from Harvard University and his BA summa cum laude from Princeton University.
