Anick Ouellette: You are an executive with a very busy schedule, so why add physical activity to it? We know that eating and sleeping well, taking care of your mental health and moving are all good lifestyle habits. However, I would like to draw your attention to physical activity.
For me, moving is of vital importance. My inner circle will tell you that if I do not stay active for a few days, I become very irritable. Physical activity helps me relieve stress and gives me a lot of energy. It also helps me enormously on a psychological level because I gain confidence and resilience, which allows me to face life's difficulties.
From a physiological standpoint, oxygenating my brain through exercise is not complicated—I have better capacities, and my ideas are much clearer. I solved problems countless of times by simply walking or swimming. To break the routine, I vary exercises from day to day and take rest days, so a simple workout routine is enough.
The idea is to move and not impose an overly strict and discouraging framework on myself. This is treating myself with kindness. A trick I use to remain consistent is to incorporate activity in my schedule every day, as if it were a work meeting or an activity with my friends.
In short, it is about giving great importance to this time I take for myself.
