Launched in 2003, the Public Servant-in-Residence (PSIR) Initiative allows mid-career public servants (EX minus 2 to EX) to spend a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years at a Canadian university. During this period, public servants commit to acquiring and sharing knowledge in areas related to their home department's objectives and broader federal government priorities through their research or teaching assignments.
